At Dharmata Canada, we seek to offer a welcoming, respectful, and compassionate environment for meditation, study, service, reflection, and community connection. Participation in any Dharmata Canada event, program, retreat, gathering, class, meeting, volunteer activity, or offering, whether in person, online, or hybrid, is entirely voluntary.
Voluntary Participation
By attending, registering for, or participating in any Dharmata Canada activity, each participant acknowledges that participation is a personal choice and is undertaken at their own risk.
Possible Risks
Participation in Dharmata Canada activities may involve certain known or unforeseen risks. These may include, without limitation, physical injury, illness, emotional or psychological discomfort, travel-related risks, risks associated with the use of any premises or facilities, risks arising from group activities or discussions, technical or privacy-related limitations in online participation, loss of or damage to personal property, and other risks associated with community events and contemplative practice.
Personal Responsibility
Each participant accepts responsibility for their own health, wellbeing, safety, personal property, conduct, choices, and limits during and in connection with any Dharmata Canada activity. Participants are encouraged to exercise personal judgment and to seek appropriate medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice where needed. Dharmata Canada’s teachings, programs, and events are offered for spiritual, educational, and community purposes only and are not a substitute for medical, psychological, psychiatric, or other professional care.
Release and Waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, by attending, registering for, or participating in any Dharmata Canada activity, each participant knowingly and voluntarily assumes all risks associated with that participation and releases, waives, and forever discharges Dharmata Canada, together with its directors, officers, teachers, volunteers, facilitators, hosts, agents, and representatives, from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, losses, damages, costs, expenses, or liabilities of any kind arising out of or relating to such participation, including claims arising from ordinary negligence.
Acknowledgment of Access and Agreement
By registering for or participating in a Dharmata Canada activity, each participant acknowledges that they have been given access to this Participation Waiver & Disclaimer, have had the opportunity to review it, and agree to its terms. Anyone who does not agree to these terms should not attend, register for, or participate in the activity.
Additional Event-Specific Terms
Dharmata Canada may establish additional participation terms, safety protocols, retreat guidelines, or event-specific waivers for particular events or activities. Where such additional terms apply, participants are responsible for reviewing and complying with them.
